The Reserve Bank of India on Tuesday announced it will shortly issue ₹100 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005. The new notes will not have inset letter in both the numbering panels and will bear the year of printing ‘2016’. Further, ₹100 notes issued in the past will continue to be legal tender, the RBI stated.
